Meco Engineering offers a comprehensive manufacturing engineering service to commercial industries, residential, rural sector as well as petrochemical, marine and food.
Established in 1953, our strength lies in the innovation we bring to every project. We are up for the challenge – no job is too big or too small.
Having recently gone through a change of ownership bringing in new technical capability we are excited to see what the future holds for us.
Meco has proven itself to be the go-to-company in Taranaki for earthquake strengthening and solution development. Conserving the regions heritage buildings is a real passion for Meco and we are proud to have helped save a number of them from demolition.
Health and Safety are an extremely important part of Meco’s work practices. We comply with New Zealand and Australian standards. We adhere to the oil and gas industry’s stringent health and safety requirements. We are members of Sitewise, BeSafe Taranaki and are Council approved.

Stephen Knox
Managing Director
Stephen has taken over Meco bringing a wealth of both international and local NZ experience.
Stephen has worked in all sizes and nature of design, construction and fabrication businesses. He has designed everything from residential beams up to large steel structures, and managed construction projects of all sizes and shapes. He is passionate about engineering and loves a yarn about all things structural.

Kim Everest
General Manager
As General Manager, Kim’s focus is to keep everything running smoothly on a day to day basis.
Kim’s experience running her own successful business for a number of years has been invaluable for this role. She has proved the adage “that you don’t have to be a candlestick maker to run a candlestick company”.

Adrian Mackay
Project Manager/Estimator
Adrian brings over 35 years’ experience in the Engineering industry including Heavy Fabrication, Maintenance, Draughting, Plant Installation, Estimating and Project Management.
You can usually hear Adrian before you see him as he’s often whistling or humming a tune ……. he’s clearly happy in his work!!

Steve DeBruyn
Project Engineer/Estimator
Steve’s hands on experience on the shop floor, attention to detail along with his logistical planning skills as our Operations Manager has given him an extensive skill base to launch into his new role as Project Engineer/Estimator.
Steve is the man to talk if you want a sharp deal delivered on time and to a high standard.

Jamie Hill
Workshop Manager
Jamie is our highly capable workshop manager. In the last few years he has cut his teeth on some very complex projects which he has led with excellence. Jamie’s attention to detail, dedication to customer satisfaction and the ability to build a great team dynamic with his crew makes him an asset in our workshop.
Shaun Fabish
Light Fabrication Foreman
Shaun produces some amazing one-off pieces. Anything from gates, balustrades, rain heads, guttering, kitchen sinks and a myriad of other architectural pieces. With the equipment in his workshop and his skillset, the options are limitless.
Layne Franklin
Structural Foreman
Meco’s reputation is very important to Layne. He has extensive local knowledge and is highly respected in the Taranaki region. Layne is great at being presented with a challenging project which he approaches in a calm, considered manner.
Awad Ram
Mechanical Service Engineer
Awad Ram heads our Machine Shop. Awad deals with Mechanical breakdowns, repairs, and servicing of machinery, lifts and general one-off machining jobs. Another big component of Awad’s job is the repair and servicing of all disability equipment.
Darren Burnard
Roller Door Engineer and Storeman
Darren is our longest serving staff member. He heads up our Store and oversees our Commercial Door team. Darren’s open, friendly attitude and his desire to help people makes him a real asset to the Meco team.
